History roars to life at Threshers
By Mitchell Hanson
The sound of steam and the ping of pistons echoed through this Labor Day weekend, as the Cedar Valley Engine Club hosted its 49th annual Threshers Reunion.
Both a vivid recreation of history and a celebration of modern Iowan industry, the event drew in hundreds of exhibitors, patrons and volunteers.
The Cedar Valley Engine Club is part of the long tradition of agricultural development in Charles City, beginning in 1902 with Hart-Parr’s first successful production gas tractor. This slice of Chucktown history was available for all to see – including several Hart-Parr tractors on display, some dating back to 1913.
